This Saturday evening, Iceland witnessed the fourth eruption of a volcano in just three months, illuminating the night sky with vibrant orange jets of lava.
The eruption created a 3-kilometer-long fissure between Stora-Skogfell and Hagafell mountains on the Reykjanes Peninsula, according to Iceland's Meteorological Office.
For weeks, the Met Office had been monitoring the area, warning that accumulating magma beneath the surface made such an eruption likely.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed and follow safety guidelines as the volcanic activity continues.
