Tuesday marks China's National Tree Planting Day, a pivotal event encouraging citizens to contribute to the nation's forestation campaign and protect the environment.
According to the National Greening Commission, last year China stepped up its greening efforts by planting 3.998 million hectares of forest, surpassing the 3.83 million hectares of afforestation achieved in 2022.
In addition to forestation, the country also restored 4.379 million hectares of degraded grassland and treated 1.905 million hectares of sandy and stony land in 2023, demonstrating a robust commitment to environmental sustainability.
