‘Datai yingliangis’: New Armored Dinosaur Discovered in East China

Exciting news from Jiangxi Province in the eastern Chinese mainland: researchers have unveiled a new armored dinosaur species named Datai yingliangis.

The discovery, consisting of two subadult specimens measuring between 3.5 to 4 meters in length, provides a significant addition to the fossil record of Ankylosaurine—iconic armored dinosaurs from the early Late Cretaceous period.

Associate Professor Xing Lida from the China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB), emphasized the importance of this find, highlighting the distinctive pair of signature horns on the dinosaurs' cheeks that set Datai yingliangis apart from its relatives.
