Mongolia Faces Record Livestock Deaths as Harsh Winter “dzud” Rages

The extreme wintry weather phenomenon known as \"dzud\" continues to take a heavy toll on Mongolia's livestock, with deaths surging to 667,841 this winter, according to the National Emergency Management Agency.

Among the country's 21 provinces, eastern Sukhbaatar, Khentii, Dornod, and Dornogovi, as well as Arkhangai in the central west, have reported the highest rates of animal deaths. The ongoing crisis highlights the vulnerability of Mongolia's agricultural sector to severe weather conditions.
