Deep within the lush mountains of Xishuangbanna in southwest China's Yunnan Province, the Jinuo people maintain a profound connection with nature. As the last of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the Chinese government in 1979, the Jinuo have preserved their unique traditions and lifestyle, intricately woven with bamboo.

Approximately 95 percent of Jinuo homes are constructed from bamboo, a sustainable resource that also shapes their daily life. From sturdy kitchen tools to their traditional musical instruments, the qike and bugu, bamboo is indispensable.
