Spring Festival 2024: China’s Flower Sales Surge by 170%

As the Spring Festival approaches, China's flower markets are experiencing a vibrant boom. Sales are flourishing both in-person and online through popular livestream platforms, reflecting a dynamic shift in consumer behavior.

According to Chinese e-commerce giant Meituan, sales of decorative flowers have skyrocketed by an impressive 170% year-on-year since mid-January. This surge highlights the growing trend of digital shopping, even for traditional festive preparations.

Flowers have long been a staple in Chinese Spring Festival celebrations, symbolizing prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year. Families across the nation are enthusiastically decorating their homes with a variety of blooms to usher in positive energy and fortune.

In addition to the dramatic increase in sales, the volume of flowers shipped has also seen significant growth. Shipments have risen by 86% compared to the average figures and by 11% compared to the same period last year, further indicating the heightened demand for floral decorations during this festive season.

This remarkable growth in flower sales not only underscores the enduring cultural importance of the Spring Festival but also showcases the potential of integrating traditional practices with modern commerce platforms.
