As winter grips central and eastern China, the Ministry of Emergency Management has stepped up its efforts to combat the harsh weather conditions. On Sunday, the ministry upgraded the emergency response level from level-IV to level-III in Hunan Province, signaling a heightened state of alert for low temperatures, rain, snow, and freezing conditions.
In addition to Hunan, the ministry has activated a level-IV emergency response in Jiangxi Province, ensuring comprehensive preparedness against the adverse weather. Provinces such as Anhui and Hubei will continue to operate under a level-III response, while multiple other regions including Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, Chongqing, Guizhou, and Shaanxi maintain a level-IV status.
In a swift move to support those affected by the cold, the ministry, along with two other government departments, has dispatched 60,000 disaster relief supplies since last Saturday. These essential items, including cotton-padded coats and quilts, have been delivered to Anhui, Hubei, and Guizhou, providing much-needed warmth and comfort to residents battling the severe weather.
