Yunnan’s Yuanjiang Basin: Sanctuary for China’s Wild Aloe

The Yuanjiang River basin in southwest China's Yunnan Province is home to China’s wild aloe, thriving abundantly in Pupiao Village. These wild aloe colonies are a rare sight nationwide, making this region the largest habitat for the species in the country.

From tree species that emerged around 60 million years ago high on the precipices to the spurge family in the dry-hot river valley savanna, the Southern Yunling Mountains are a haven for diverse wildlife.
