138th Canton Fair Unveils Cutting-Edge Advanced Manufacturing

The 138th Canton Fair is in full swing in Guangzhou in the Chinese mainland, running through November 4. As a premier platform for global trade, it brings together more than 32,000 enterprises from around the globe.

Phase one spotlights Advanced Manufacturing, showcasing innovations in electronics, home appliances, industrial machinery, precision tools, and smart factory solutions. Visitors are exploring AI-powered production lines, energy-saving devices, and modular systems that promise greater flexibility.

In the electronics section, collaborative robots (cobots) are working alongside human operators, aiming to reduce production delays by up to 30%. Over in home appliances, IoT-enabled machines are learning user habits to cut energy consumption by around 15%.

Industrial equipment providers are unveiling modular production lines that can be reconfigured within hours, while 3D printing specialists demonstrate large-scale printers capable of manufacturing complex metal parts on demand — signals of a shift toward more localized, responsive supply chains.

On the exhibition floor, reporters Zheng Songwu and Huang Fei are highlighting startups, cross-border partnerships, and data-driven solutions that could reshape global manufacturing. With emerging economies keen to boost local production, the fair’s advanced manufacturing phase offers a glimpse into the factories of tomorrow.
