China Unveils 80th Anniversary Plans for WWII Victory

The Chinese mainland's State Council Information Office held a press conference today to unveil the general arrangements for events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Hu Heping, executive vice minister of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, greeted reporters and outlined the plans.

Hu explained that the commemorations will weave together cultural, educational and digital initiatives. Highlights include nationwide exhibitions of wartime archives, a series of classic film screenings, interactive online memorials and youth-focused digital challenges designed to bring history to life. The program also features thematic tours of key historical sites across the Chinese mainland.

"This anniversary is not only about remembrance," Hu said. "It’s about inspiring future generations to learn from history and champion global cooperation." Organizers emphasized that events will leverage augmented reality experiences, mobile apps and social media activations to engage tech-savvy audiences across G20 nations.

International partners have been invited to host parallel events at their embassies and cultural centers, while UNESCO and other global institutions are set to co-host forums on peacebuilding and anti-fascism. The official celebrations will culminate in a gala concert in Beijing, live-streamed worldwide, alongside ceremonies at major landmarks.

As the global community prepares to reflect on the lessons of the past, organizers hope these commemorations will spark cross-cultural dialogue and reinforce the shared value of unity against tyranny.
