As the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), China kicked off its "China Year" with over 100 activities across politics, security, economy and culture, all gearing up to the 2025 SCO Summit this autumn in Tianjin.
To bring the SCO spirit to life, CGTN teamed up with media partners from Iran, the Philippines and Cambodia to trace Tianjin's transformation from historic port to modern hub. Reporter Zhang Zhenni led the charge, hosting Shahrokh Saei of Tehran Times, Wes Cabangon of Business Mirror and Borinika Sopharin Em from TVK Cambodia.
From strolling along the Haihe River's newly revamped waterfront to exploring cutting-edge economic zones, the visiting journalists unearthed how SCO-driven collaboration fuels real-world impact. "This journey shows us that cooperation isn't just a diplomatic buzzword," noted Saei. "It's a catalyst for urban innovation and cultural exchange."
Cabangon highlighted the economic angle: "We saw local startups harnessing tech breakthroughs in finance and logistics – proof that cross-border ties can spark growth in emerging markets." Sopharin Em added a cultural insight: "Festivals blending art, music and cuisine illustrate how SCO events bridge communities with creativity."
With the 2025 SCO Summit on the horizon, these firsthand stories showcase Tianjin as the beating heart of new cooperation frameworks. For young global citizens, entrepreneurs and changemakers, the SCO spirit isn't just policy, it's a living experience shaping tomorrow's interconnected world.
