Delta Plane Flips During Toronto Landing: 17 Injured Amid Turbulent Weather

A Delta Air Lines flight arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport flipped upside down during landing on Monday, injuring 17 of the 80 passengers and crew amid heavy winds following a snowstorm.

Airport President Deborah Flint confirmed the incident occurred during “challenging weather conditions,” with gusts exceeding 50 km/h. Emergency crews responded immediately, evacuating all occupants safely. No life-threatening injuries were reported. The Boeing 737-800 had departed from New York’s JFK International Airport prior to the incident.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has launched an investigation, focusing on wind shear and runway conditions. Aviation experts highlight the rarity of such events in modern commercial aviation, noting advanced pilot training for extreme weather. Toronto Pearson advised travelers to check flight statuses amid ongoing weather disruptions.
