A magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, on Tuesday. As of January 9, the number of quake-affected people has reached 61,500. The large-scale search and rescue operation efforts have basically ended, according to a press conference held by local government on Thursday. The focus of work has shifted to the resettlement of quake-affected residents and post-disaster reconstruction.
