Shanghai’s Yangpu Riverside Transforms into National Hub for Industrial Heritage

Shanghai's Yangpu waterfront, celebrated as the cradle of China's early industries, is embarking on an exciting transformation. Designated as a national demonstration zone, Yangpu Riverside will showcase innovative strategies for protecting and repurposing industrial heritage sites.

Nestled along the iconic Huangpu River, the area was once home to the nation's first water, electricity, shipbuilding, and textile companies. Today, many of these historic industrial buildings, including the renowned Yangshupu Power Plant, have been meticulously preserved amidst the waterfront's redevelopment.

This preservation effort not only honors Yangpu's rich industrial legacy but also supports contemporary initiatives. A prime example is \"Yangpu Power,\" an initiative playing a crucial role in the upcoming seventh China International Import Expo scheduled in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. By blending historical preservation with modern development, Yangpu Riverside stands as a testament to Shanghai's commitment to sustainable growth and cultural heritage.
