Celebrating World Tiger Day: Nurturing South China Tiger Cubs in Fujian

July 29 is \"World Tiger Day,\" a global celebration highlighting efforts to protect one of nature's most majestic yet endangered creatures. This year, the spotlight shines on the South China tiger, a subspecies exclusive to China and recognized as the world's most endangered tiger.

Located in Shanghang County of Longyan City in the eastern province of Fujian, the country's largest South China tiger wilderness training base is making significant strides in conservation. In January 2024, the facility welcomed three female tiger cubs into the world, marking a hopeful milestone in their breeding program.

These cubs have now reached the six-month milestone, a critical period for their development. Their growth and adaptation are closely monitored to ensure their readiness for eventual release into the wild, where they can contribute to the restoration of the South China tiger population.

Wilderness training for adult tigers at the base involves simulating natural habitats, teaching survival skills, and fostering independence. This rigorous training prepares the tigers for life in the wild, ensuring they can thrive in their natural environment.

To witness the remarkable journey of these endangered cubs and learn more about the ongoing conservation efforts, tune into our livestream on World Tiger Day.
