Swift Rescue Efforts Secure Evacuation After Dongting Lake Dike Breach

A dike breach at Dongting Lake in the Chinese mainland's Hunan Province has prompted urgent rescue operations. All individuals affected by the breach have been safely evacuated, ensuring their safety amidst the crisis.

To manage the situation effectively, authorities have deployed drones, satellites, and helicopters to monitor and control the breach. As of the morning of July 8, rescue teams have successfully sealed 138.5 meters of the breach, with 87.5 meters remaining to be secured.

Zhang Yingchun, executive vice governor of Hunan Province, assured reporters at a press conference on Sunday afternoon that the remaining breach is expected to be sealed before noon on Tuesday. The swift response aims to prevent further complications and safeguard the surrounding communities.
