A new chapter in ancient Chinese history is about to unfold as the Yinxu Museum opens its doors to the public in Anyang, central China's Henan Province, on February 26. This state-of-the-art museum is dedicated to showcasing the brilliance of the 3,000-year-old Shang civilization.
Visitors will have the opportunity to marvel at nearly 4,000 unearthed cultural relics, including exquisite bronze wares, intricate pottery pieces, stunning jade artifacts, and the enigmatic oracle bones that offer a glimpse into the ancient world. Mayor Gao Yong of Anyang emphasized the significance of this new museum at a recent news conference, highlighting that the original Yinxu Museum, which opened in 2005, was limited by its 1,500-square-meter exhibition space. The expanded facility aims to provide a more immersive experience, allowing visitors to delve deeper into the Yinxu Ruins, a key site that was first excavated in 1928 and later listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006.
