New Expressway Connects Beijing and Xiongan, Slashing Travel Time to One Hour

A new expressway linking Beijing and Xiongan New Area has officially opened to traffic, marking the completion of the Beijing-Xiongan expressway. Spanning approximately 97 kilometers, including a 70-km segment in Hebei Province and a 27-km section in Beijing, this direct route reduces the driving time between Beijing's southwestern fifth ring road and Xiongan New Area to just one hour.

Announced in April 2017, the Xiongan New Area encompasses Rongcheng, Anxin, and Xiongxian counties along with adjacent regions. The development aims to alleviate Beijing from non-essential governmental functions and promote coordinated growth within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Reporter You Yang will be traveling on the new expressway to explore the enhanced convenience and benefits brought by this new infrastructure link.
