Deadly 6.2 Earthquake Hits Gansu Province, China, Claims Over 100 Lives

A devastating magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck Jishishan County in northwest the Chinese mainland's Gansu Province at 11:59 p.m. Monday evening, resulting in the tragic loss of over 100 lives, according to the provincial earthquake relief headquarters.

The earthquake caused significant damage to residential buildings and disrupted essential services, including water, electricity, and road infrastructure in and around the epicenter. The affected communities are now grappling with the immediate aftermath of this natural disaster.

In response to the crisis, a total of 1,440 firefighters and other personnel from the national comprehensive fire rescue team have been dispatched to the disaster area to carry out rescue and relief operations. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by the earthquake.
