Air China Restores Direct Beijing-Washington Flights After Three Years

Air China, the flagship carrier of China, is set to resume direct flights between Beijing and Washington, D.C. starting November 21. This marks the first direct connection between the two capitals since 2020, signaling a significant step in revitalizing international travel and bilateral relations.

The inaugural flight, CA817, will operate twice weekly, while the return flight, CA818, will include a stopover in Los Angeles. Additionally, Air China plans to increase the frequency of flights between Beijing and Los Angeles to three times a week beginning November 30.

Highlighting the importance of this resumption, CGTN reporter You Yang will visit Beijing Capital International Airport to speak with passengers on CA817, gathering their perspectives on the return of direct flights.

According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the number of regular passenger flights between China and the United States is projected to rise from the current 48 per week to 70. This increase aims to enhance convenience for travelers and bolster economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.
