The 2023 Pacific typhoon season continues to impact China as Typhoon Saola, the ninth typhoon of the year, made landfall in Guangdong province early Saturday morning. China's National Meteorological Center has issued a red alert, the highest level in its four-tier warning system, leading to the postponement of the first day of school in multiple regions and suspension of production and public transport services.
In addition to Saola, Typhoon Haikui is forecast to move from west to north at speeds of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, gradually approaching China's eastern coastal regions. Authorities predict that Haikui will bring heavy rainfall and strong gales, increasing the intensity of the storm as it approaches landfall. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to stay informed and follow safety guidelines as the storms progress.
