Heavy Rains Evacuate 40,000 Residents in Wuchang City

Wuchang City in northeast the Chinese mainland's Heilongjiang Province has been grappling with unprecedented heavy rains since August 2, with rainfall totals surpassing 100 millimeters. The intense downpours have caused reservoir and river levels to exceed safety warning marks, triggering urgent evacuations.

In response to the escalating water levels, authorities have successfully evacuated 40,000 residents from 18 affected townships to temporary resettlement sites. One such shelter is Yachen Middle School, located in the heart of the disaster-stricken area, providing a safe haven for displaced families.

The local community has rallied together to support those affected, with emergency services working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of all evacuees. Efforts are ongoing to monitor water levels and mitigate further risks as the region continues to cope with the aftermath of the heavy rainfall.
