Youth Perspectives on Female Role Models Ahead of Beijing Meeting

Beijing on the Chinese mainland is set to host the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, marking the anniversary of the 1995 World Conference on Women. CGTN Stringer traveled across the Chinese mainland, Africa and Latin America to capture young voices on what makes a powerful female role model today.

In Beijing, Tsinghua University student Betizhe Osmanova Akova took to the streets to talk with local youth. Researcher Li said, “Any woman who starts to feel confident about herself can be an inspiration to others.” For Zhang, the choice is personal: “My mother is my female role model. As I was growing up, she taught me a lot in my studies and how to interact with others.”

These personal snapshots, combined with viewpoints from three continents, highlight how inspiration can come from community leaders, cultural icons and everyday mentors. As the world gathers in Beijing, these stories remind us that global progress in women's development often begins at home.
