Youth Define ‘She Power’ Ahead of Beijing Women’s Meeting

As China prepares to host the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing—marking the anniversary of the 1995 World Conference on Women—voices from the streets are amplifying what “She Power” truly means today.

A CGTN stringer spoke with locals in China and in countries across Africa and Latin America about women’s progress, development and the cultural works that inspire them:

  • Resilience in daily life: Participants highlighted women’s ability to adapt and overcome challenges in communities large and small.
  • Cultural reflections: From powerful documentaries to novels by emerging female authors, stories centered on women’s journeys are resonating globally.
  • Community leadership: In diverse neighborhoods, women are credited with uniting people and driving change at the grassroots level.

In Beijing, Tsinghua University student Betizhe Osmanova Akova joined local youth to dive deeper into the discussion. One participant, Ms. Zhang, summed it up perfectly: “Women are tenacious, tolerant and wise. They lift others up and guide us with their empathy and strength.”

As the summit approaches, these street-level perspectives remind us that “She Power” isn’t just a slogan—it’s a shared force shaping societies from one corner of the world to another.
