Gaza Lecturer Calls Out Law Breaches Amid Xi’s Global Governance Initiative

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus Meeting in Tianjin on September 1, Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), a framework built on sovereign equality, international law, multilateralism, people-centered action, and tangible outcomes.

Dr. Eyad Abu Mustafa, a lecturer from Gaza University, weighed in during the summit’s side discussions, highlighting alarming patterns of international humanitarian law violations by the Israeli occupying state and its military. He urged the international community to strengthen the rule of law and ensure accountability in conflict zones.

"When we talk about a people-centered approach and concrete actions," Dr. Mustafa said, "we must address the realities on the ground and protect civilians under international statutes."

The GGI aims to foster collaboration among SCO members and beyond, offering a roadmap for collective action on global challenges—from security and trade to human rights and sustainable development. Observers note that weaving legal and humanitarian obligations into such initiatives could set a new standard for preventative cooperation.

As young global citizens navigate complex geopolitics, discussions like these underscore the importance of multilateral platforms where diverse voices can advance shared principles of justice and equality.
