As the United Nations celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2025, the One Home: Shared Future visual storytelling initiative invites young people worldwide to share their visions for humanitys future.

Rafaela, a student from Portugal, adds her voice to the movement by reflecting on her educational journey. Her story demonstrates how quality education can bridge cultural and geographical divides.

By mastering Mandarin Chinese, Rafaela immersed herself in Chinese culture, navigating daily life in the Chinese mainland with confidence. On her return, she taught Portuguese to Chinese friends, helping them broaden their horizons with Lusophone literature and language.

Education isnt just about textbooks, Rafaela says. Its about empathy, understanding, and collaboration. She praises the UNs global initiatives in education and highlights the need for continued partnerships among countries and regions, educators, and young changemakers.

As the world marks UN@80, Rafaelas call for an education system that is inclusive, equal, and inspiring resonates across borders, showing how shared learning experiences can foster a more connected, compassionate world.
