First-Person Footage Shows Intense Clashes in Syria’s Sweida Province

Raw first-person footage from Sweida Province in southern Syria captures a sudden surge in armed clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports at least 37 people killed and about 50 wounded as gunfire and shelling intensified across multiple neighborhoods.

The conflict ignited in the eastern al-Muqawwas area, where mutual shelling lit up the streets. Within hours, fighting spread west and north into rural districts, pushing families into temporary shelters and abandoned buildings.

Inside the Clashes

The video, filmed by a local stringer, offers an unfiltered look:

  • Smoke rising over barricaded roads.
  • Armored vehicles maneuvering through damaged lanes.
  • Civilians seeking cover under sporadic bursts of fire.

With no official forces stepping in so far, community elders and local leaders have launched mediation efforts to broker a truce and secure detainee releases. Despite these negotiations, residents remain on edge, fearing the violence could flare up again at any moment.

As southern Syria grapples with this sudden eruption of conflict, the footage highlights the urgent need for dialogue and support to protect vulnerable communities caught in the crossfire.
