Drone Strike Devastates Gaza School Shelter

On July 8, 2025, an Israeli air strike hit a makeshift shelter at a school in the Al-Bureij refugee camp, central Gaza. Multiple people were killed and many more injured as the blast tore through rows of tents set up to protect displaced families.

A stringer on the ground visited the devastated site and spoke with survivors. "We were sleeping when explosions shook the area," said Adnan Wishah. "Flames spread quickly, and innocent civilians living in tents were burned."

Mohammed Abu Jabr described the strike: "Drones circled overhead before powerful blasts tore through the building, killing and injuring many of us who sought safety here."

This attack highlights the ongoing risks faced by displaced communities in Gaza, where schools and public buildings often double as emergency shelters. The strike on a civilian refuge raises pressing questions about the protection of non-combatants in conflict zones and underscores the growing humanitarian toll in the region.

As the world watches, the urgent need for safe havens and stronger civilian safeguards has never been clearer, reminding us that every life matters in the pursuit of peace.
