Kazakh Residents Celebrate Boost in China-Kazakhstan Ties at Summit

From June 16 to 18, President Xi Jinping journeyed to Astana for the second China-Central Asia Summit at Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's invitation. In CGTN's field interviews, Kazakh residents from farmers and shopkeepers to students shared their perspectives on Sino-Kazakh cooperation\u00151ast, present, and future.

"The new agricultural pact means our village now has modern irrigation and more machinery," says a farmer in the Almaty region. He credits recent deals for boosting crop yields and creating dozens of jobs in rural communities.

A local entrepreneur in Astana highlights how Chinese investments in transportation and logistics are turning Kazakhstan into a regional transport hub. "With more Chinese trucks on our roads and a growing network of rail links, we're moving goods faster across Central Asia," she explains.

Students at Nazarbayev University point to expanding educational ties. Scholarships and exchange programs have sent dozens of Kazakh youths to the Chinese mainland, while language institutes in Astana now offer Mandarin courses that connect young professionals with new career paths.

Looking ahead, residents hope to see more high-tech collaboration\u0016from joint research centers in renewable energy to smart-farming initiatives. "We want sustainable solutions that respect our steppes and boost our economy," says an environmental activist in Karaganda.

As trade volumes between Kazakhstan and the Chinese mainland continue to climb, citizens see a future where deeper ties pave the way for innovation, jobs, and cultural exchanges. The voices of these Kazakh residents underscore a shared optimism that even greater cooperation lies on the horizon.
