In downtown Los Angeles, a diverse crowd of activists, young professionals and families gathered Saturday for the 'No Kings' protest, part of a nationwide wave challenging immigration raids and a perceived shift toward authoritarianism under President Donald Trump.
The action coincided with Flag Day and Trump's 79th birthday, as he hosted a military-style parade in Washington, D.C. Across California, thousands marched and voiced solidarity with immigrant communities.
“Our country was made up of immigrants to begin with. The Statue of Liberty invited everybody in. All this unconstitutional and unlawful stances are really getting to be enough,” said one demonstrator, captured by a CGTN Stringer on the ground.
