An Israeli air strike in Gaza recently struck the home of pediatrician Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, killing nine of her ten children while she was on duty at al-Tahrir hospital. The eldest child was just 12 years old.
Working at the Nasser medical complex, Dr. al-Najjar had been treating victims of the ongoing conflict when tragedy struck at home. A hospital representative confirmed that her husband and their remaining child were injured but have since survived.
At the scene in Khan Yunis, the doctor's brother-in-law Ali al-Najjar described the moment he arrived: "I heard a deafening blast that shook the entire area. By the time I rushed over, the house had been reduced to rubble."
This heartbreaking incident underscores the profound human cost of the conflict in Gaza, where ordinary families continue to face unimaginable loss.
