Peruvian Student Urges Deeper China-Latin America Collaboration at 2025 CELAC Forum

As 2025 marks ten years since the launch of the China-Latin America and Caribbean Community (CELAC) Forum, attention is turning to the fourth ministerial meeting in Beijing on May 13. This decade has seen ties deepen around shared goals: infrastructure, clean energy, tech innovation, food security and education.

Anna Paula Peralta Reyes, a communication major at the University of Lima, has lived those connections firsthand. Raised in a Chinese school in Peru for 11 years before studying at Jilin University, she calls the upcoming forum "a chance to turn dialogue into real projects."

Peralta highlights milestones like the Chancay Port—built in partnership with China—which links Latin America to Asia and has generated thousands of jobs. "When we invest in infrastructure, we power growth," she says. "It's about more than roads and docks; it's about opportunities."

Looking ahead, Anna sees room to deepen collaboration on clean energy projects, digital networks and education exchanges. "Whether it's solar farms in the Andes or tech hubs in Lima, we can pool resources and expertise," she explains. "The fruits of development should be shared."

As China and CELAC members prepare to convene, a new generation of voices like Anna's is pushing for partnerships that deliver real-world impact—and bring people closer across continents.
