Early on Wednesday, India launched missile strikes on nine locations across Pakistan and Pakistani-administered Kashmir. Delhi described these as key 'terrorist infrastructure' sites, responding to a deadly attack on tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir's Pahalgam region two weeks earlier.

The Pakistani military reported at least 26 people killed, as exchanges of fire also intensified along the border. In Khoi Ratta, a CGTN stringer captured footage of shattered windows, collapsed walls and debris strewn across civilian neighborhoods.

Residents say they woke up to the sound of explosions and spent hours searching for loved ones amid the rubble. 'We never imagined our homes would be caught in the crossfire,' one local told reporters, highlighting the human cost of cross-border tensions.

Analysts warn that such tit-for-tat strikes raise the risk of a wider escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. For now, communities along the frontier are left navigating daily life under the shadow of uncertainty.
