Brazilian Expert Calls for Enhanced China-US Cooperation After Lima Summit

The recent meeting between the Chinese premier and U.S. President Joe Biden in Lima, Peru, marked a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations. Held on November 16, the summit was described by both sides as candid, profound, and constructive, with both leaders expressing a willingness to maintain ongoing communication.

During the talks, the leaders emphasized the critical role of China-U.S. strategic communication. They discussed the importance of regular contact between diplomatic and security teams, as well as establishing dialogue mechanisms focused on military-to-military relations, economic and trade ties, and financial issues. This comprehensive approach aims to address and manage the complexities of the relationship between the two global powers.

In an interview with CGTN, Breno Giovanni Adaid Castro, a professor of business management at the Higher Education Institute of Brasilia, shared his perspective on the meeting. Castro highlighted that both China and the U.S. are world powers whose cooperation is essential for global stability. He stated, \"If the two sides can further improve and promote free trade, it will be good for all other countries seeking trade with them.\" Castro emphasized the need for mutual respect and peaceful consultation, advocating for the creation of new opportunities for cooperation and development despite existing differences.

This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to foster a more collaborative China-U.S. relationship, with potential positive ripple effects for the global economy and international relations.
