Iran Launches Over 200 Missiles at Israel Amid Rosh Hashanah

In a significant escalation of regional tensions, Iran launched ballistic missiles targeting key Israeli military and security installations on the evening of October 1. This move comes in retaliation for a series of Israeli actions in Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine. According to Iranian media, more than 200 missiles were fired, causing widespread alarm across Israel.

Israeli residents reported witnessing numerous \"fireballs\" lighting up the night sky and hearing sirens blare throughout much of the country. The missile strikes coincided with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which began on October 2, prompting many Israelis to rush to shelters in search of safety.

CGTN Stringer Arthur Vernes was in Tel Aviv at a local cafรฉ after work when the alarm sounded. He described the chaotic scene as he stepped outside to witness the missile attack alongside fellow residents. Vernes emphasized the importance of peaceful actions, stating, \"If all the parties involved do the right things today, they will have peace tomorrow.\" His call for restraint and dialogue highlights the urgent need for de-escalation to prevent further conflict in the region.
