Tensions in Lebanon have escalated, prompting a mass exodus as tens of thousands seek refuge in neighboring Syria. Over the past week, more than 30,000 individuals have crossed from Lebanon into Syria within just three days, according to Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees representative in Syria.
Escaping the turmoil sparked by Israeli attacks, families are leaving behind their homes in search of safety. CGTN Stringer visited the border between Syria and Lebanon to witness the humanitarian crisis firsthand.
Khalil Al-Bazid, one of the displaced residents, shared his harrowing experience. "We had a good lifestyle and suddenly we became displaced," he said, highlighting the suddenness and severity of the situation.
The influx of refugees places additional strain on Syria, a country already grappling with its own challenges. International organizations are closely monitoring the situation, aiming to provide necessary aid and support to those affected by the conflict.
As the situation develops, the international community remains focused on finding sustainable solutions to ensure the safety and well-being of those displaced by the ongoing conflicts in the region.
