The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is set to take place in Beijing from September 4 to 6. This significant event underscores the strengthening bonds between China and African nations, fostering collaboration across various sectors.
In a recent initiative, CGTN invited Africans to share their perspectives on China-Africa cooperation, focusing on areas such as trade and business, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, environmental protection, and sister cities.
One of the featured voices is Liu Yuankang, also known as Devin, a Chinese student majoring in African Studies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Devin sat down with Nokukhanya Khanyi Zulu, a South African English teacher who has previously lived in China, to discuss the positive outcomes of China-South African cooperation.
Nokukhanya highlighted the deep collaboration between South Africa and China in the education sector. She pointed out that South Africa hosts the highest number of Confucius Institutes on the African continent, promoting Chinese language and culture. Additionally, the Chinese language has been integrated into the curriculum of local high schools, enhancing cultural understanding and educational exchange.
The discussions between Devin and Nokukhanya reflect the mutual benefits and shared experiences that define the China-South Africa relationship. Their stories emphasize the importance of cultural exchange and educational partnerships in building strong, lasting ties between the two nations.
