The 19th Changchun Film Festival is underway in Changchun City from August 28 to September 1, celebrating the theme \"New Era, New Cradle, New Power.\" This year’s festival showcases the rich heritage of Chinese cinema on a global stage.
Eakvixay Tran, a student from Laos, is delving into the world of Chinese film at the Changchun Film Studio, the birthplace of the industry. Through his immersive visits to museums, art exhibitions, and film sets, Tran is uncovering the birth, development, and evolution of Chinese cinema.
As he interacts with historical artifacts, explores props and scenes, and studies iconic films, Eakvixay gains a deeper appreciation for the storytelling and creativity that define Chinese movies. He shares his admiration for his favorite Chinese films, beloved movie characters, and visionary directors. \"In that museum, they show a lot of historical moments of filmmaking in China and it made me learn more and want to know more about Chinese culture as a whole,\" he says.
Tran’s journey highlights the growing interest among Gen Z in understanding and engaging with diverse cultures through the universal language of film. The Changchun Film Festival not only celebrates cinematic achievements but also fosters cross-cultural connections among young global citizens.
