In 2010, Carmen Giménez Abad faced unimaginable hardships when a domestic violence incident left her in a wheelchair. The loss of her newborn son compounded her pain, but Carmen found a path to healing through racing. Donning her racing wheelchair, she began with 100-meter sprints, gradually building her endurance to compete in marathons. Her dedication paid off when, in April this year, Carmen became the first Spanish female wheelchair athlete to participate in the Boston Marathon. Beyond her personal achievements, Carmen aspires to inspire others facing adversity and aims to compete for an Olympic medal one day.
