University of Toronto Students Stage Sit-In Demanding Gaza Ceasefire

Students at the University of Toronto, along with their counterparts in Ontario and Manitoba, have been holding campus sit-ins since May 2 in response to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The central lawn of the University of Toronto campus has been transformed into a grounds for protest, with tents set up to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people and to call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with CGTN Stringer, Deborah Cowen, a Jewish professor supporting the protest, highlighted the unity among Jewish faculty and students who have joined forces with other protesters to pray for a ceasefire. Erin, a graduating student, shared her reasons for participating, stating that she was moved by the plight of thousands of students in Gaza who are unable to continue their education due to the ongoing conflict.
