As Ramadan begins, millions of displaced and starving people in Gaza face their toughest fasting month yet. Since March 11, the Israel-Hamas conflict has intensified, leading to widespread bloodshed and the collapse of social order in Gaza. Desperate Palestinians struggle daily to secure basic necessities and maintain some semblance of normalcy.
In Rafah city, a CGTN Stringer witnessed the dire conditions firsthand. A refugee residing in a tent shared, \"I have never experienced a worse Ramadan in my life. I prepared nothing this year and just waited for the suffering to come.\" Another displaced individual expressed the challenges of affording even the simplest of foods, saying, \"I couldn't buy a box of sweets or a jar of jam because of the soaring prices. One day, I woke up to the sounds of bombing and was forced to flee to Rafah.\"
With relief efforts lagging behind the growing needs, the people of Gaza continue to navigate the despair brought on by relentless conflict and economic hardship during this sacred month.
