Celebrating 60 Years of China-France Friendship Through Cultural Harmony

In 2024, China and France commemorate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, marking a significant milestone in international friendship. This year also coincides with the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

Over the past six decades, the China-France friendship has thrived, with cultural exchanges blossoming and people-to-people interactions becoming increasingly diverse and closer. These enduring bonds have fostered a mutual appreciation for each other’s rich heritage and contemporary innovations.

One shining example of this cultural symbiosis is the Saint Marc choir from Lyon, France. Founded in 1986, the choir has earned a stellar reputation in the region for over 20 years and has performed in China multiple times. The Saint Marc choir stands as a cultural ambassador, bridging the gap between the two countries through the universal language of music.

Leila Moumen, a dedicated secondary school art teacher and a prominent member of the Saint Marc choir, has been instrumental in these international tours. During her recent tour in China, Moumen shared heartfelt memories with her Chinese friends, emphasizing the profound impact of these cultural exchanges. She expressed her belief in the importance of mutual learning between China and France and voiced her hopes for even more enriching experiences in this year’s tour.

The collaborative spirit between China and France, embodied by groups like the Saint Marc choir, underscores the significance of cultural diplomacy in fostering global understanding and unity. As both nations celebrate their 60-year journey together, the emphasis on cultural and educational exchanges continues to pave the way for a harmonious and interconnected future.
