China-France Mark 60th Diplomatic Anniversary with Vibrant Cultural Exchanges

In 2024, China and France celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, highlighting decades of collaboration and cultural exchange. The New Franco-Chinese Institute, established in 2014 after Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Lyon, has been pivotal in fostering these ties, which trace back to the 17th century.

Alain Labat, vice president of the institute, emphasized the unique nature of Lyon's historical connections with China, setting it apart within Europe. This year, under the banner of the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, significant cultural initiatives are underway.

A notable highlight includes the visits of the Saint Marc choir in Lyon to China, arranged by a CGTN stringer. With four tours planned in 2024 and nearly 40 concerts scheduled, the choir is eager to strengthen people-to-people bonds. \"Diplomatic relations serve as a means for us to facilitate our encounters and travels to China,\" shared Nicolas Porte, the choir's director.
