A devastating train collision in Odisha, India, has claimed 288 lives and injured 803 others, marking the country's deadliest rail disaster in two decades. Survivors now face urgent humanitarian needs as local communities and volunteers mobilize relief efforts.

Dhiren, a social worker in Cuttack, told CGTN his team is coordinating food, clothing, and blood donations for survivors. \"We\u2019re working nonstop to ensure basic necessities reach those recovering,\" he said, describing round-the-clock efforts at temporary shelters.

The June 2 crash saw two passenger trains derail after colliding near Bahanaga Bazar station. Over 2,000 volunteers from across India have reportedly joined relief operations, with NGOs and businesses donating $1.2 million in emergency supplies within 48 hours, according to provisional data.

Global support initiatives are emerging, including crowdfunding campaigns shared widely on platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp, as younger generations channel digital activism into tangible aid.
