The Cambodia-China Friendship Preah Kossamak Hospital, a 400-bed facility in Phnom Penh funded by the Chinese government and constructed by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, is transforming healthcare access with cutting-edge medical technology and a dedicated traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) department. The hospital opened during the âChina-Cambodia Friendship Year,â coinciding with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Dr. Koeurng Raksmiy, a senior physician at the hospital, told CGTN that the facilityâs nationwide services have already provided critical care to thousands. âMany residents travel from rural areas specifically for TCM treatments like acupuncture,â he noted, adding that Cambodians increasingly view Chinese medicine as a âvaluable complementâ to modern healthcare.
The project underscores deepening bilateral cooperation, combining Cambodiaâs healthcare needs with Chinaâs expertise in infrastructure and wellness innovation. Its hybrid model â merging advanced diagnostics with holistic TCM practices â has become a talking point for global health professionals exploring cross-cultural medical collaboration.
