Brazilian Student Champions Cross-Cultural Ties Through Law at Tsinghua

Larissa, a 23-year-old Brazilian student at Tsinghua University, is turning her multicultural heritage into a mission to bridge China and Brazil. Born to a Chinese father and Brazilian mother, she first arrived in the Chinese mainland at age 10 during her father’s work assignment. Now pursuing a law degree at one of Asia’s top universities, she sees herself as a ‘living connection’ between two rising global powers.

Every vacation, Larissa returns to Brazil to share firsthand insights about China’s tech innovations, cultural nuances, and business practices with her community. ‘Many Brazilians only see China through Western media filters,’ she explains. ‘I show them the dynamic society I experience daily – from high-speed rail to grassroots sustainability initiatives.’

Her career goal reflects this ambition: “I want to help transnational enterprises navigate legal frameworks in both markets. When Chinese companies expand to Brazil or vice versa, cultural fluency becomes as crucial as legal expertise.”

With China-Brazil trade hitting $157 billion in 2023, Larissa’s story highlights how Gen Z professionals are redefining economic diplomacy through personal connections and specialized skills.
