Life in Quarantine: A Firsthand Account from Shanghai
When Kaili, a Shanghai resident, tested positive for COVID-19 last month, she found herself navigating the city's temporary medical facilities – a system honed through China's evolving pandemic response. \"At first I panicked,\" she admits, \"but the routine here gave me structure.\"
Her days now start with 6 AM temperature checks followed by doctor consultations via tablet, part of what officials call a \"digital health management system.\" Patients receive three daily meals with nutritional tracking apps, and participate in yoga sessions streamed to ward TVs.
\"We have 20-minute outdoor time slots where we wave to families through fence barriers – it's bittersweet,\" Kaili shares.
The facility houses over 800 patients, with 80% vaccinated residents experiencing mild symptoms. Medical staff rotate in 14-day shifts, their PPE bearing handwritten notes of encouragement in multiple languages.
