European Allies Condemn UAE Drone Strike Amid Yemen Conflict Tensions

European nations have united in condemning Monday's deadly drone strikes on Abu Dhabi, calling for de-escalation as the Yemen conflict spills into the Gulf. Three people were killed in the attack on a fuel storage facility near the UAE capital's airport, which the Houthi rebel group claimed responsibility for.

The Attack and Its Aftermath

Two Indian nationals and a Pakistani worker died in the blasts, with six others injured, according to state oil firm ADNOC. Emirati authorities confirmed explosive-laden drones triggered the explosions—a rare security breach in the UAE, a key player in the Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Regional Tensions Escalate

The Houthis, aligned with Iran, stated they targeted "sensitive Emirati sites" using drones and ballistic missiles. The strike marks a significant escalation in the seven-year Yemen war, which the UN calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis. Over 377,000 people have died since 2015 due to direct violence and indirect causes like famine.

Europe's Response

Germany, France, and the UK swiftly denounced the attack, reaffirming solidarity with the UAE. Analysts warn the strike highlights growing risks of regional proxy conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Iran, with civilian infrastructure increasingly at risk.
