In the heart of Kabul, Fawziya Arifi has dedicated 42 years to educating young minds. Recently, her school closed its doors after the Taliban took control of the city two weeks ago. Despite the uncertainty, Arifi continues to hold onto hope for her students.
Arifi shared her daily routine of going to school to mark her attendance, only to find the classrooms empty. She spoke with CGTN Global Stringer about the challenges ahead. Many of her students are eager to resume their studies, hoping the school will reopen soon.
However, Arifi anticipates that reopening will come with new regulations and restrictions, particularly affecting female students and teachers. She expressed her commitment to continue teaching, provided that these new rules do not hinder her students' pursuit of a bright future. \"If their rules and restrictions will not hamper my students in achieving their goals for a bright future, yes, I will definitely continue,\" Arifi affirmed.
Arifi's resilience embodies the spirit of many educators in Kabul who remain steadfast in their mission to educate despite the challenges posed by the recent political changes.
