After nearly five months of closure, UK museums are reopening their doors to the public, marking a significant step towards normalcy amidst ongoing COVID-19 uncertainties.
The Natural History Museum (NHM) in London welcomes visitors for the first time since December 16. However, museumgoers should expect a different experience compared to pre-pandemic times.
To ensure safety, the NHM has implemented several measures: visitor numbers are restricted, and pre-booked time slots are required for entry. Additionally, social distancing protocols are in place, and all guests must wear masks while inside the museum.
Helena Bates, interim curator of meteorites at the NHM, shared her thoughts on the reopening: \"It's been challenging but it's been a fun challenge getting ready for the reopening. I think people are excited to get out, to go and see something different after months of lockdown.\"
The reopening of museums like the NHM not only provides a safe environment for cultural enrichment but also serves as a beacon of hope for the gradual return to everyday activities.
